COLLABORATION AND CAPACITY BUILDING FOR GOLD-STANDARD COMBINED MIND-BODY PATIENT-CENTRIC CARE:

Capacity building for provision of gold standard patient-centric combined Mind-Body care in Diabetes will be made possible by training health professionals to acquire competence in clinical application of Mind-Body Medicine. The innovative Workshop Program of Mind-Body Medicine in Diabetes has been created by collaboration of Diabetes & Endocrinology experts with experts of Mind-Body Medicine, and offers the latest in the field.

FOUNDATION COURSE:

The innovative Clinical Workshop Program of Mind-Body Medicine in Diabetes and Endocrinology has been created by collaboration of experts in field of Diabetes, Endocrinology, Psychiatry, Psychology, Nutrition, Public health, Yoga and Mind-Body Medicine, and offers the latest in the field made possible by the joint effort of SPHERE (Society for Prevention, Healthcare, Education and Research) and Center For Behavioural Medicine (CBM) Trust, Pune.

The Workshop Program has a modular structure, is learner-centric and will proceed through interactive sessions, group learning and supervised casework with panel of internationally recognized experts.

WHAT IS THIS WORKSHOP PROGRAM ABOUT?

Considering the early life onset of all NCDs with Obesity/Adiposity as mother disease of all NCDs ,the theme of the workshop focusses around CATCHING THEM YOUNG for prevention and treatment of these pandemic problems

This program focuses on in person training, case work and group disscussions on conceptual update on Diabetes as PNIE disorder, as well as practical/experiential feel of evidence-based mind-body approaches to assessment and intervention for comprehensive management of Diabetes throughout its life cycle from managing the pre-diabetic condition to optimizing management of Diabetes without complications to managing Diabetes with complications. An additional agenda is addressing wellbeing of healthcare professionals themselves.

The workshop will offer training to healthcare professionals to acquire competence in clinical application of Mind-Body Medicine through improvement in their understanding on health psychology and brain health and behaviours.

WHAT DOES THE WORKSHOP INCLUDE?

The workshop includes short lectures, panel discussions, workshops, case studies, activities, dinner meets, expert talks, group disscussions and interactive sessions, assignments, self-learning, case work and practice skills. Practical/experiential sessions.

Addressing the unmet needs in Diabetes – allostatic load in diabetes, diabetes as polyendocrine disorder, diabetes and autonomic dysfunction – manifestation in neurocardiology & nephrology, neurogastroenterology and neurosexology, diabetes-depression overlap, diabetes and cognition, diabetes and sleep disorder, diabetes and biomechanics, diabetes and oncology, etc
Addressing the pre-diabetes spectrum including obesity and PCOS, gestational diabetes
Growing-up with T1DM
Addressing the unmet needs through fortification of pharmacotherapy with non-pharmac interventions

Use of Tools for MBM assessment:

Protocol of clinical assessment with emphasis on assessing allostatic load and degree of health deviation – generating specific intervention targets
The MBM intervention algorithm – logical approach per intervention targets with combo of pharmacotherapy and non-pharmac interventions
Introduction to the ABC of Neuro-Regulation Training (NRT) as the bedrock of non-pharmac intervention
